Job Description for Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Manufacturing Organization, Sri Lanka

Position: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Location: Sri Lanka
Industry: Manufacturing (FMCG/Industrials)
Experience: 18+ years in finance, with recent experience as CFO or CFO-1 overseeing entire finance operations
Relocation: Open to seasoned finance professionals from India willing to relocate with family to Sri Lanka

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  1. Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the organization’s business objectives.
  2. Collaborate with the executive leadership team to drive sustainable growth and profitability.
  3. Oversee mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures (JVs), ensuring seamless integration and alignment with organizational goals.

Financial Management

  1. Direct and manage all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and reporting.
  2. Monitor and control financial risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements in Sri Lanka.
  3. Drive cost optimization and operational efficiency across the finance function.

Manufacturing-Specific Financial Oversight

  1. Implement financial controls and systems tailored to the manufacturing industry, especially in FMCG and industrial sectors.
  2. Manage financial operations for the supply chain, inventory, and production processes.
  3. Analyze and report financial performance, providing insights into manufacturing efficiency and profitability.

JV Experience and Stakeholder Management

  1. Handle financial operations and reporting for JVs involving Indian and international conglomerates.
  2. Ensure transparent communication and alignment with stakeholders, including partners, investors, and board members.
  3. Manage cross-cultural teams and drive synergies between diverse organizational cultures.

Team Leadership and Development

  1. Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative work environment.
  2. Build succession plans and nurture future leaders within the finance function.

Key Qualifications and Skills

Education

  • Chartered Accountant (CA), Cost Accountant (CMA), or MBA in Finance from a reputed institution.
  • Additional certifications like CFA, CPA, or equivalent would be advantageous.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 18+ years of experience in finance, with a strong track record in leadership roles such as CFO or CFO-1.
  • Proven experience in manufacturing industries (FMCG/industrials), with a deep understanding of financial systems in these sectors.
  • Experience with JVs or partnerships between Indian and international companies is highly desirable.

Skills

  1. Strategic and analytical thinking with the ability to solve complex financial challenges.
  2. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  3. Proficiency in financial software and tools commonly used in manufacturing organizations.
