Wessel de Jager

I am a corporate restructuring and turnaround professional with a passion for developing and implementing turnaround and restructuring solutions for challenged and financially distressed corporates that protects and preserves value for stakeholders.  As restructuring professional, I have extensive experience in multi-banked special situations, with exposure to a broad variety of industries, as well as most jurisdictions on the African continent.  In this regard I have worked for the major South African corporate and investment banks since 2002.

My experience has enabled me to focus on development of solutions for corporate multi-banked clients mainly through informal and consensual restructuring through active and robust management of stakeholders.  I also have extensive experience in the formal restructuring environment (typically liquidations, administration and CVA’s), and also in South Africa through business rescue, creditors compromise and liquidation.

Since 2023, I have grown my experience as a trusted client and lender restructuring advisor, and licensed as Business Rescue Practitioner, after joining the Deloitte Africa Turnaround & Restructuring team.  More recently, I joined the Kroll Africa Restructuring team, with greater exposure to the Sub-Saharan continent.  I also take statutory board appointments as restructuring or turnaround director.

Further to that, I also have an extensive network within the legal, business rescue and turnaround industry.  I have also participated in several lender consortiums and multi-lender working groups, locally and abroad.

I am a driven and goal-orientated individual with a passion for my work, which also excites and energizes co-workers and escalates a team to optimal performance.  I function optimally where I can implement strategic financial solutions and initiatives operationally and I engage comfortably at various organisational levels and with various stakeholders.
