Position: Accounts Manager – Fuel Terminal

  • Location: Beira, Mozambique
  • Qualification: Inter CA / M Com
  • Experience: 10-12 years

Key Skills:

  • Preferred Industry Knowledge:
    • Expertise in fuel accounting (L20/L15/Naturals), vessel receipt accounting, hospitality invoices, terminal tank loss/gain analysis, truck loss/gain analysis, and statutory compliance.
  • Accounting Skills/Bank Reconciliation:
    • Knowledge of pricing and pricing maintenance in the system.
    • Ability to invoice as per statutory requirements.
    • Issuing LAN/FAN on order clearing (sighting of funds).
    • Experience with daily, weekly, and monthly MIS with analysis.
  • Team Player & Communication:
    • Strong interpersonal and team management skills with effective verbal and written reporting and communication abilities.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Product and Asset Management:

  • Ensure the safe custody and proper handling of company assets and products stored in the terminal.
  • Coordinate with the Operations team to maintain real-time stock and invoice data.

2. Loss Control & Product Accountability & Administrative:

  • Analyze and publish daily operational losses/gains tank-wise.
  • Conduct precise product accounting, analyze daily loss/gain data, and implement corrective actions to meet performance goals.
  • Perform vessel receipt analysis on loss/gain and demurrage.
  • Prepare vessel-wise costing sheets.

3. Budget & Cost Efficiency:

  • Monitor and control expenses related to utilities and operating consumables to stay within budget and ensure timely bill payments.
  • Verify banking statements before any indent clearance for fund receipt.
  • Ensure all material purchases have a Purchase Order (PO) and payments are made against PO on time.

4. Compliance & Statutory Standards:

  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements by monitoring license renewals and statutory obligations.
  • File statutory returns without penalties.

5. Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify and implement process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency gains.
  • Maintain a focus on industry best accounting practices across all terminal operations.

6. Training & Development:

  • Provide on-the-job training and ensure staff are up-to-date with accounting and safety standards.

7. Additional Responsibilities:

  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by management to support operational needs and business goals.

Required Competencies:

  • Team player with good communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.
  • Budget management and cost-control expertise.
  • Skilled in manpower management, accounting, and accurate reporting.
  • Strong understanding of compliance and statutory requirements.
  • Experience in the hydrocarbon industry is preferred, but experience in a mid-size or large industry in middle management is also acceptable.
