About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Family Office Accounting Analyst to join a prestigious single-family office located in Midtown, NYC. This role is ideal for candidates with a degree in accounting and up to three years of experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills to contribute effectively to the firm’s operational accounting processes. Reporting directly to the Controller, you will support various financial and operational activities within the family office.

Key Responsibilities

1. Accounting and Financial Reporting

  • Perform daily operational accounting functions, including accounts payable (AP) and receivable (AR).
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for the family office.
  • Reconcile bank and investment accounts on a regular basis.
  • Manage general ledger entries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial standards.
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.

2. Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Assist the Controller with budgeting processes and financial forecasting for family office operations.
  • Support cash flow analysis to ensure effective fund management.

3. Tax Compliance Support

  • Work with external tax professionals to gather data and prepare supporting documentation for tax filings.
  • Assist in tracking and organizing tax-related payments and records.

4. Investment Tracking

  • Monitor and report on portfolio performance, including private investments, real estate holdings, and marketable securities.
  • Maintain accurate investment records and reconcile with external statements.

5. Administrative and Ad-Hoc Projects

  • Provide support for various administrative tasks, including record-keeping and reporting for family trust accounts.
  • Participate in ad-hoc accounting projects as assigned by the Controller.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, organized, and easily accessible for audits and reviews.

Qualifications and Skills

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field.
  • 0–3 years of relevant experience in accounting, preferably within a family office, public accounting, or private equity setting.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software tools.
  • Familiarity with accounting systems like QuickBooks or similar platforms is a plus.

Soft Skills

  • Strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.
  • Proactive and resourceful problem-solving skills.
