Job Title: Finance and Accounting Manager

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Finance and Accounting Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day finance and accounting operations. This includes entering journals, managing accounts receivable and payable, using financial technology systems, and other finance-related administration. The Manager ensures timely reconciliation and reporting of all financial statements and prepares financial analyses for the Director as requested. The Manager serves as the primary contact for internal staff on invoicing, bill payments, bank receipts, bank payments, revenue, bank limits, currency exchange, hedge and forward bookings, and budgets. Additionally, the Manager implements and trains staff to use software that streamlines processes and improves the distribution and accessibility of financial information.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure day-to-day transactions such as accounts payable, bank payments, bank receipts, and accounts receivable are recorded properly.
- Perform timely and accurate month-end journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations (e.g., net assets, investments, revenue, expenses, VAT expense allocations, etc.), ensuring that accounting schedules are updated and accurate.
- Ensure proper revenue and expense recognition.
- Monitor bank and investment balances and perform cash flow forecasting.
- Ensure all finance and accounting operations comply with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and federal and state laws and regulations.
- Assist the Managing Director with project and organizational budgets; assist with monthly financial reporting needs.
- Perform fiscal year-end close activities and assist with activities of suppliers, banks, and other bodies.
- Continually seek and implement opportunities to streamline and improve finance and accounting operations through technology, including training staff to better utilize financial and accounting software.
- Coordinate with the export department for freight pricing, market analysis, and contracts compliance.
- Other duties as assigned to meet organizational requirements.
Qualifications:
Education and Training:
- Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or a relevant field required.
- Certification in accounts & finance is a plus.
Experience:
- 5 to 10 years in financial management and accounting, preferably in the trade, import & export sector.
- Supervisory experience is a plus.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) with expertise in Excel required.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
